  Center Positioning:

  The Burn Surgery and Wound Repair Research Center focuses on critical scientific issues related to the diagnosis, repair, and regeneration of burn wounds. It has developed a multidisciplinary platform integrating research on burn diagnosis, treatment, wound healing molecular mechanism research, and wound repair. The center explores precise detection of burn wounds, scar-free healing mechanisms, prevention and treatment of wound infections, and the development of new medical biomaterials and devices. It aims to provide robust scientific evidence and safe, effective treatment strategies for burn wound repair and diagnosis to deliver solid scientific evidence and safe, effective treatment strategies for the repair and diagnosis of burn wounds, facilitating precise diagnosis and high-quality repair of burn wounds in clinical settings. The center has formed an internationally renowned burn research team, led by prominent figures such as former chairmen of the Chinese Medical Association's Burn Surgery Branch, Professors Jun Wu and Jingning Xun, and includes esteemed international experts like Professor David Herndon, Professor Naiem Moiemen, and Professors Ubaldo Armato and Ilaria Dal Pra. The team continues to advance burn surgery and wound repair research in China.

  Research Team:

  The center has developed a multidisciplinary research team centered on burn surgery, integrating talents from cell biology, materials chemistry, and physical optoelectronics. The center director, Professor Jun Wu, is the former chairman of the Burn Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a standing director of the seventh council of the Chinese Rehabilitation Medicine Association, the chairman of the Wound Repair Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Equipment Association, an executive committee member of the International Society for Burn Injuries (ISBI), the editor-in-chief of Burns & Trauma, deputy editor of the Chinese Journal of Burns, an expert reviewer for the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) Medical Device Technical Review Center, and an expert in the NMPA Drug Review Expert Database. Professor Wu has been engaged in teaching and research for over 30 years, focusing on major scientific issues related to burn wound coverage and repair and regeneration. He has led numerous national, military, and municipal key research projects, published over 100 SCI papers as the first or corresponding author, obtained 29 authorized patents (7 of which have been transferred and 3 products marketed), and authored or co-authored 13 books. He has supervised over 50 doctoral and master's students. Professor Wu has received multiple honors, including the Science and Technology Star of the General Logistics Department of the People's Liberation Army, the National Advanced Individual in Earthquake Relief from four ministries, the Chongqing Outstanding Young and Middle-aged Expert, the Military School Talent Silver Award, the Chinese Charitable Public Welfare Figure, and the Guangdong Medical Leader Talent (Burn Surgery). He founded China's first private burn children's charity fund, the Chunmiao Burn Children Charity Foundation, organized China's first burn children's summer camp, and launched the country's first burn English journal, Burns and Trauma. He initiated and organized the International Symposium on Burn Rehabilitation and Wound Healing and established the Burn Treatment and Rehabilitation Professional Committee of the Chinese Rehabilitation Association, serving as its first chairman.

  Team PI:

  Dr. Guangtao Huang, Associate Chief Physician, and Associate Professor, leads the team with a focus on bacteriophage and gene editing technology for infection control. He has chaired nine projects, including three National Natural Science Foundation projects, two provincial projects in Guizhou, one postdoctoral project, and three municipal projects, published over 30 papers, and received six approved patents. He is a member of various professional committees, including the Burn and Wound Repair Division of the Chinese Geriatrics Society, the Youth Group of the Burn Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, the Burn Critical Care Group of the Chinese Medical Association, the Diabetic Foot Professional Committee of the China Human Health Promotion Association, and the Trauma Repair Professional Group of the Plastic Surgery Branch of the Chinese Medical Association.

  Achievements:

  The center has secured over 50 million yuan in research funding, led or participated in seven national multicenter clinical studies, developed or contributed to seven clinical guidelines and national expert consensus documents, and launched over 20 new technologies and projects. It has undertaken numerous major national, provincial, and municipal research projects, published over 30 high-level papers in renowned international journals like Annals of Surgery, Burns & Trauma, and Journal of Digital Imaging, and edited or co-edited several academically significant books. The center has obtained nearly 20 national invention patents. In 2021, the center's research achievements received national and provincial awards, including the First Prize of the Chinese Rehabilitation Society Science and Technology Progress Award (Jun Wu, Meifang Yin, et al.) and the First Prize of the Chinese Medical Association Science and Technology Progress Award (Gaoxing Luo, Jun Wu, et al.).
