Orthopaedic Medicine Research Center
The Shenzhen Sports Medicine Engineering Technology Research and Development Center is the largest sports injury diagnosis and treatment research center in South China. It is a high-level scientific research platform built on the Shenzhen "Three Famous Projects" team—the Peking University Institute of Sports Medicine. The research directions of the center include:
Musculoskeletal System Anatomy and Biomechanics Research:This involves studying the anatomical structure and biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system to understand better how injuries occur and how to treat them effectively.
Cartilage Tissue Engineering Basic and Clinical Translation Research:This includes the development and application of autologous chondrocyte implantation technology and the clinical translation of mesenchymal stem cell therapy for joint cartilage injuries.
Development and Application of Biomaterials:This involves the research and development of new biomaterials, such as 3D printed porous biological scaffolds, for use in medical treatments and surgeries.
Digital Orthopedics and Smart Device Development: This area is focused on creating digital orthopedic technologies and smart devices that can aid in the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
Multidisciplinary Clinical Research:This includes the application of imaging techniques in sports medicine to improve the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries.
Since its establishment six years ago, the center has made significant contributions to the field of sports medicine, including:
Publishing over 55 academic papers, including 32 SCI papers.
Obtaining 38 national patent authorizations, including two PCT patents and one US patent.
Undertaking over 20 national, provincial, and municipal scientific research projects.
Receiving several prestigious awards, including the Chinese Medical Association Science and Technology Award, Guangdong Province Science and Technology Progress Award, and Shenzhen City Science and Technology Progress Award, among others.
Being recognized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology as the Guangdong Provincial Sports Medicine Engineering Technology Research Center in 2019, making it the only engineering research center in the field of sports medicine research in South China.
